Hill Boat Club
The
club was incorporated in 1944 when a group of local
boating and fishing enthusiasts realized a need for
a formal group to initiate such things as a jetty, electricity
and water supply, dredging of the channel and the installation
of the telephone service. Many of these achievements
were made possible from fundraising from many social
activities organised by the club as well as government
funding. As well as these milestones in the early development
of Groper Creek, the club provided caretaking duties
ranging from the original clearing of the land to bailing
out water from distressed vessels and rescuing fisherman
in perilous conditions.
